What a great CD this is. Reminiscence Quartet is a group based out of France that features in Nu-Jazz, Nu-Bossa tunes. Their real album was titled just "Psycodelico", and this is sort of like a re-done project with some tunes from the original "Psycodelico" and a few new tunes. Out in 1999 on yellow productions, this was a song that came out in the beginning of the nu-Brazil sound movement.
The most popular track on this cd will probably be the remake to Orlandivo's classic soulful cut titled "Onde Anda Meu Amor". With Orlandivo's being so fantastic, how can you keep the quality up? Having the fresh, spirited voice of Brazilian "Cabarat" star Salome De Bahia sing is one heck of a start! The CD doesn't lose steam after that either. Although only ten cuts, each cut has great beat and attitude to it. You move onto the funky "Gannabara", then to sambadelic track "Eu So Quero Um Xoda" before going into a cool jazz set titled "Peace of Mind." "Psycodelico" has that cool attitude with Nancy Danino on vocals and by then the CD's still rotating and mixing it up.
This is a must have if you're into French nu-Jazz/electronica, and the nu-Brazil scene. They have some funky samba's and batucadas. Featured on vocals is not only the POWERful voice of Salome De Bahia, but also the VERY strong voice of Nancy Danino who goes from tough to soft at the snap of a finger. Remi-Quartet give a seductive facelift to Ana Mazzotti's "Rua De Lisboa". Through & through, I really dig this cd - all ten cuts. If you check this out, you may like ESL's "Jet Society". Also, check out a group called Los Ladrones and their cd titled "Montana Rusa". And for a cut that's originally on their "Psycodelico" album give a look at "Paris Lounge vol 1".
