Originating from Scotland, Captain Marryat were active between 1971 and 1975 and released one album during their tenure in 1974. Influences by bands of that era were Beggars Opera and Uriah Heep. At the time of the albums release only approximately 150 vinyl pressings were made.

The band comprised of Ian McEleny - Lead Guitar, Hugh Finnegan - Bass/Vocals, Jimmy Rorrison - Drums/Vocals, Tommy Hendry - Accoustic Guitar/Vocals and Allan Bryce - Organ/Vocals

Their sound is traditionally progressive for that era with sometimes quirky vocals hence the Crossover leanings but also great organ/keyboard and guitar sounds. The band enjoyed touring gigs primarily in Scotland with the likes of Alex Harvey Band and Nazareth.

Heard this for the first time about a year ago.
Very highly recommended and proof that the music biz has no idea about real talent, then and now
