"Are You Sirius?" is Valerio Pontrandolfo's debut album and features the great Harold Mabern Trio, with John Webber on bass and Joe Farnsworth on drums. This is what saxophonist Eric Alexander wrote in the linear notes of the album:
"Valerio has crafted a wonderful, well-rounded, and eminently listenable recording. He mixes in memorable originals among a fine selection of jazz standards, all the while showcasing his intriguing and idiosyncratic approach to the tenor saxophone. He's clearly been influenced by Rollins and his former mentor Steve Grossman, but while his influences are transparent, he is most assuredly his own man. The "A-Team" rhythm section of Mabern, Webber and Farnsworth is spot on throughout. I know that listeners will enjoy this excellent recording not a few times, but over and over again."
