Formed in 1968 in Birmingham, England, Shakey Vick was a short-lived blues band fronted by Graham Vickery (vocals, harmonica). Bruce Langman (guitar), Nigel Tickler (bass) and Ned Balen (drums) completed the line-up. The group was signed by Pye Records in 1969 as the label embraced contemporary music in an attempt to rid itself of a staid, conservative image. Little Woman You’re So Sweet was recorded live at Birmingham’s Mother’s club, a then-popular venue on the ‘underground’ circuit. The ensuing raw atmosphere enlivened a set comprising largely of tested blues standards, including ‘Good Morning Little Schoolgirl’ and ‘Movin’ To Chicago’. Imitators rather than pioneers, Shakey Vick split up on the demise of the British blues boom.
